Glasgow indie/instrumental rockers Mogwai have just released an EP 'Earth Division' and "Get To France" is the leading track. I'm sorry but I will have to use the 'melancholy' word for this song, once again. However, this time it hasn't got anything to do with the lyrics... because there aren't any, it's all in the mood of the instrumentation. My definition of this song is 'Indie rock meets classical music for a soundtrack to whatever you are doing.... as long as you are not too happy doing what you are doing. The best thing about Mogwai is their ability to surprise. And this is a pleasant surprise.
Hits and Myths is a daily song blog from 87.6 Bitter FM, Taupo, New Zealand. This is really just a forum for me to share my excitement about a particular song to anyone who may be interested. The songs could be old or new, from all genres and are all played on Bitter FM.

Mogwai - "The sun smells too loud"
Scottish instrumental-indie band 'Mogwai' have released seven studio albums and two soundtracks since forming in 1995. Their songs are predominantly instrumentals that typically build up slowly, often starting quietly and peaking loudly, ten minutes later. "The sun smells too loud" is from their sixth album 'The Hawk Is Howling' released in 2008. It is a pop centrepiece that is full of unspoken bliss.
