Mestar originally formed in Dunedin and are now possibly based in Wellington. The Arch Hill Records band released the album 'Shut The Squizwot Factories Down' in 2006 and it featured an assortment of tales of fantasy and other worlds. Possibly a concept album... I don't know. But if it is, then "Konked Out" may be the part of the tale where the protagonist tires and nearly gives up, only to be persuaded to pursue and it all ends happily. Although, I don't think Mestar's John White writes songs as simple as that. So I'll just say it is a great pop song and leave it at that.
