After many years and many albums with 'Throwing Muses' Kristen Hersh released her debut solo album 'Hips and Makers' in 1994. It was an acoustic album with the addition of cello and piano. It was well known that she had some demons and this album was full of insightful and personal songs. The opening track "Your Ghost" also features Michael Stipe on vocals. It is as haunting as it's title and must be one of the finest moments in her long career. She re-recorded it with a side project band '50 Foot Wave' which stays quite true to the original, except for (distorted) electric guitar. Greg Laswell also recorded a great cover version recently and we play that on Bitter FM as well.
